FORT COLLINS - A Colorado company that produces diesel made partially out of locally grown Canola crops is being lauded by local politicians as forward thinking, and offering a product that can help American consumers as they grapple with ever rising fuel costs. |
Blue Sun Biodiesel announced Wednesday that a recent federal study found their product actually burns slightly cleaner than regular diesel, and that they've expanded their number of retail pumps in western states to 25.
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper explained how he had directed part of the city's fleet to start using the fuel, which has decreased the city's dependence on foreign oil.
US Senator Ken Salazar (D) also spoke about the urgent need for companies like this to provide alternate sources of energy for US consumers.
