Chesapeake Utilities Corp. received approval from the Florida Public Service Commission to provide natural gas service to about 4,000 new residences and businesses in the Nassau County, Fla., Wildlight development.
On the Wildlight development:
Florida Public Utilities, a Chesapeake Utilities subsidiary, serves about 1,500 residences and commercial buildings in the 24,000-square-acre development where construction began in 2017. Chesapeake said the Wildlight development, a planned community for families, will include about 22,000 residential units and numerous commercial businesses once completed over a 10-year span.
On construction:
Peninsula Pipeline Company, a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities, will build additional upstream transmission facilities to enable Florida Public Utilities to expand service throughout development. Three new pipeline segments, which consist of steel pipe, new regulator stations and improvements, a new gas injection point and three new points of delivery will be constructed in phase one of the project. Phase two will include the installation of two new steel pipeline segments.
