Blue Sun Recognized as Colorado Company to Watch

Blue Sun Energy, Inc. has been named one of Colorado's Companies to Watch for 2009.

"High performance, second-stage companies account for most of the economic growth, community development and economic independence in our state," states Colorado Governor Bill Ritter in a press release concerning the award. "The companies selected make an astounding impact on Colorado's economy by collectively providing thousands of jobs and contributing millions of dollars of revenue. In short, they tell a compelling story about the state's diverse economic landscape.”

Blue Sun has enjoyed significant success in Colorado and the Western U.S.  In 2008 Blue Sun was ranked #242 in Inc. Magazine’s "Inc. 500" list of fastest growing privately-held companies. Early in 2009 the company was awarded, as part of a research team with General Atomics, a large grant to develop biodiesel-based jet fuel from algae.

The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and Colorado Biz Magazine developed the list to highlight and profile successful and promising companies in the state. Only 50 companies are selected for the prestigious award from the  over 250 that are nominated.

Blue Sun provides a premium alternative diesel fuel for use in all diesel engines and is commonly recognized for their superior blend of diesel, biodiesel and their proprietary DTX additive that helps the fuel exceed ASTM and EN specifications.

Companies to Watch are typically growth focused, privately-held, headquartered in Colorado, have 6 to 99 full-time equivalent employees, and $750,000 to $50 million in sales or a similar range of working capital.
