A Summit on Biofuels and Their Related Industries Hosted by Rep. Tom Osborne

Nebraska has already established itself as a national leader in the biofuels industry, which has benefited growers, communities, and the environment in our state. With the successful passage of the Renewable Fuels Standard in last year's Energy Bill as well as the President's renewed focus on biofuels to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, it is clear that there is an expanded role for biofuels and other renewables in America's energy future.

As co-chairman of the House Biofuels Caucus, I believe that Nebraska has an increasing role to play in supplying our energy needs not only with ethanol, but also with biodiesel and other related technologies. To ensure Nebraska's competitiveness as new opportunities continue to emerge in biofuels and biotechnology, we must lay the groundwork to capitalize on these new opportunities, as well as expedite the process of bringing promising new technologies and innovations to the marketplace.

I have invited experts from across the country to share what they are doing to promote these efforts, and I hope you will join us for this informative discussion about the opportunity to fuel Nebraska's prosperity with today's crops.
